Ted Maulucci - President - SmartONE Solutions
People choose where they want to live for many reasons. The community, the location, the design and finishes are integral parts of the decision-making process. The world, however, has changed and technology has become a part of every element of our lives.
Communities are no longer evaluated based only on the traditional physical attributes.
Building communities is about creating places where people want to be and thrive, and that includes technologies that support and enhance the living experience. Next generation communities will be enabled through state-of-the-art, advanced digital communications and a mobile enabled experience that is secure, sustainable and convenient.
My journey started in 2006 at the Realcomm conference in Toronto, where I first learned about “intelligent buildings”. Multiple, separate building systems converged onto a central common network backbone. It was natural for me, starting as a construction superintendent for Tridel in 1989 and then evolving into the Chief Information Officer (CIO). With the marriage of hard-core construction and technology, it could not have been a better fit.
Fast forward to today and after many years of passionate struggle and advocacy, understanding that smartphones and iPads did not even exist when we began this journey; we introduce today, thanks to innovative leadership from Tridel, the Ten York Community as the most advanced residential digital community in Canada – for now.
SmartONE Solutions, a company dedicated to the development of next-generation Smart Communities, is the natural progression to my career. A continuation of over ten years of work and collaboration with many companies and academic researchers that led to the creation of Ten York.
The modern economy is about partnerships where companies collaborate and everyone wins. The SmartONE platform is designed to bring together multiple solution partners – who have been selected act as an integral part of the next generation community experience. The addition of each new partner strengthens the overall offering, benefiting everyone involved – the resident, the developer and property manager, and the community. With every relationship and partnership, we collectively become stronger and create better digital communities.
It is about creating places for people to live. Communities that are secure, sustainable, and convenient.
